Is it the right size for you?

For clean water from a tank or mains line within 7–8 m below the pump. It is not a submersible pump.

Can I add automatic on/off?

Yes. Fit the TOTAL TWPS101 automatic pump control and it starts when you open a tap and stops when you close it.
