Silage choppers

Silage choppers are essential agricultural machines designed to harvest and chop forage crops for silage production.

There are two machines here, a silage chopper and a fodder chopper. Both cut maize, napier and sorghum into short, even lengths that pack tightly in a pit, bunker or bag.

Chop length is what makes silage work: short pieces pack without air pockets, ferment evenly and keep for months, carrying a dairy herd through the dry season. Chop and seal on the same day, while the crop is still fresh.
